Core values of FDDB

The association’s core values.


Approved by the central board May 3rd 2007.

The vision.
The association of Danish DeafBlind’s vision is to be a determined, user controlled professional organisation of deaf-blind people/visual and hearing impaired, who aims at being visible and included in the society and also to be a life-giving gathering point and network for the members of the association in the everyday life.

Focus areas:
To be a mouthpiece and to be a co-player as well as an opponent in all political decision processes that concern deaf-blind people.
To raise awareness about deaf-blindness in the society through information, actions and by conveying knowledge.
To locate, inform and include potential members in the activities of the association.
To create social networks with activities, development and education.
To ensure accessibility in all areas of life so that deaf-blind people can participate actively and equally in the society.
To oppose the tendencies to societal and human exclusion and isolation.

Core values:
Equality as people and equal opportunities in the society.
To be a trustworthy collaborator.
Diversity and spatiality. There would to be room for all deaf-blind people no matter ability to function and form of communicating.
Openness, dialog and mutual respect internally and externally.
To make room for deaf-blind people’s different forms of communicating so that everybody can participate on equal terms.
To enforce and develop deaf-blind people’s ability to be self-sufficient.
Viable unity through the focus on the common cause.
