Short history of FDDB
The Danish Association of DeafBlind was established the 27th of June 1987 and is a professional organisation of and for deaf-blind people. The day-to-day management is therefore attended to by deaf-blind people, who organise and complete a series of activities of both social and cultural character.
Throughout the twenty years of the association’s existence we have carried out a range of projects beneficial to people living with deaf-blindness. We have among other things supported the establishment of local ERFA-groups (experience groups), where deaf-blind people meet and exchange experiences and a trained a corps of informants ready to inform the public about deaf-blindness.
Deaf-blind people’s contact possibilities are also promoted though joint events, seminars as well as magazine and information activity. The Danish Association of the DeafBlind has since the beginning worked towards better conditions for deaf-blind people in Denmark and has through this work created contacts to relevant authorities and other organisations.
