ERFA-groups

ERFA is a abbreviation af the Danish word "erfaring" which means exxperiences. ERFA-groups are groups where experiences are exchanged among deaf-blind people about their double handicap and where deaf-blind people can meet up with like-minded people and to get a social network. Everybody who is sight and hearing impaired is welcome. There is not a requirement to be a member of FDDB, because these groups are organised by deaf-blind participants themselves and through a head of the group. The purpose of the ERFA-groups are that deaf-blind people can meet on equal terms and under the circumstances that their combined sight and hearing impairment necessitates.

At the ERFA-group meetings there are all the needed facilities available so that each individual can be heard and take part. Apart from the social aspect there are often presentations from people who have something that could be of interest for the deaf-blind participants such as a personal travel report from a deaf-blind person. The meetings are held once a month.

There are also two local clubs under FDDB who covers the east and west part of Denmark. The purpose with these clubs is to arrange social and cultural events for deaf-blind people. The arrangements are taken care of by boards elected by the members, just as the other ERFA-groups, and each of them implement four to six events a year.

If you want to participate in an ERFA-group you can contact FDDB on (+45) 36 75 20 96.
