FDDB Consultants

FDDB offers members and non-members visits by one of our 12 FDDB Consultants. The team of consultants is made up of eight speech users and four who uses sign language. They do home visits across the country. The consultants are trained in meeting people where they live and because the consultants themselves are deaf-blind they know of the problems deaf-blind people can experience.

The consultants visit people who need to talk and need support in a situation, where they have found out or acknowledged that their sight and hearing impairment is such burden in their every day life that they can now be described as deaf-blind.

Apart from giving personal support the consultants can also inform about assistive technology and help deaf-blind people to get in contact with the needed professionals such as other deaf-blind consultants and sight-hearing consultants. An important task for the consultants is also to find the activities within FDDB that suites the individual’s needs.
