The Informant Service

How do deaf-blind people cope with the every day life?
Are you supposed to help a deaf-blind person in the streets, if he seems to be lost?
How do you communicate with a person who cannot see or hear?

These questions and more can be answered by one of our deaf-blind informants.

The Informant Service in the Danish Association of the DeafBlind has existed since 2004. The service is made up of 17 deaf-blind informants who make presentations individually or in pairs about deaf-blindness and how to handle the every day life when living with deaf-blindness.

The informants are trained in conveying information about what deaf-blindness encompass, and more specific what it means to the people who are living with the double handicap and how they can obtain a good life despite the hard conditions.

The target audience for these presentations is schools, associations, organisations, activity centres, nursing centres, the healthcare sector, treatment centres, companies and educational institutions.

We are open for tailoring a presentation so it fits your information meeting, theme day, staff meeting, education or anything else.

If you are interested in getting a visit of an informant to your school or company with a presentation about deaf-blindess you can address the secretariat at the Danish Association of the DeafBlind who then will arrange the contact to an informant. The presentations are only available in Danish.
