The Youth Project

The Danish Association of the DeafBlind has for years focused on young people who live with sight and hearing reduction, and July 1st 2005 a Youth project was started. It is a four-year project that is managed by three members of staff, project manager Anita Otte Clausen, youth consultant Heidi Koch Ryberg and youth consultant Raziye Acili, who herself has Usher.

In the project there are many activities for and with young people with sight and hearing reduction. Among other things are youth courses and youth rallies, and there is going to be established some more networking groups as well. The Youth project was also the driving force behind the Nordic Youth Camp for deaf-blind people in Denmark in June/July 2007.

The Youth project also features meetings where all young deaf-blind people between 15 and 35 are welcome. On these meetings interesting subjects are brought up or courses are arranged. The project has arranged visits to a police station, an air field, Post Denmark, where there are deaf-blind people employed and the members have been on a fishing trip. At the meetings there is time to talk and have a good time.

We want that as many as possible to get the opportunity to use the project, so if you have some good ideas or other comments you are welcome to contact the Youth project at the Danish Association of the DeafBlind at ungdom@fddb.dk
