Support the DeafBlind cause
It is a misconception that associations like the Danish Association of the DeafBlind receive all needed funds from the public sector, unfortunately that is not true.
It is a fact that the public sector offers a basic help and help in severe vital cases in certain areas, but whichever area is financially supported, the support is not sufficient.
Additionally, the Danish Association of the DeafBlind is in competition with other similar but much larger organisations to get support from the public charity funds, which is limited in Denmark.
It is therefore necessary for us to apply for more private support to the deaf-blind cause. The Danish Association of the DeafBlind has gotten more private financial help to their work in the last few years, because there is now more awareness about the association.
Among other things private individuals, foundations and companies have made it possible for deaf-blind people to experience a southern holiday for the first time, to attend courses and to get better sense of self and to compete in a chess tournament for deaf-blind people.
If the Danish Association of the DeafBlind is going to make a difference in deaf-blind people’s every day lives further on, we still need more money to do so. Therefore we hope that others will help where the politicians cannot.
